■ ■ ■ the rules
[/b] when joining lights out, please realize that we're all just here to have fun. there should be no fights breaking out between members. if you've got a problem with someone hold it over pm; i don't want to see anyone talking trash about someone else over the cbox. everyone deserves respect, and if you've got a problem with someone tell an admin or take it up with the person directly. let's not act like toddlers.G E N E R A L .
2. ) do not steal anything at all; people work hard on even the simplest things, so it's not cool. pm someone before taking their im code or anything of that nature and ask if it's okay to use it. do not steal someone's application - if i find out that someone here stole an application, you'll be automatically banned without warning. no stealing graphics, codes, applications, anything! it's just not cool.
3.) i understand that making a post formatted can be a lot of work, but please keep everything in font size 1 or 0, it's annoying if it's not. i understand if you're doing something decorative it's totally cool, but no size 2 fonts. it's just tacky.
4.) no advertising in the cbox, boards, or pms. keep it in the advertisement section; that's what it's there for. it's just plain annoying, and you'll be banned if we find that you're doing it.
5.) do not nag someone about posting somewhere! they will get to it eventually. i understand a reminder or something like that, but if we get word that you've been bugging someone about something we'll be sure to give you a warning. people can have busy lives, it's not unheard of. let's all be realistic here and accept that some people take a little longer then others to reply. it's just the price you pay for rping.[/ul][/size][/blockquote][/blockquote]
[/b] please complete the application fully. if we see you haven't completed a section you will not be accepted. also, do not delete anything from the application; we've got it there for a reason. if you fill out the application fully and follow the word count requirements, you should be accepted as soon as an admin can get to your application.A P P L Y I N G .
2.) do not nag an admin about checking your application, we've got posts and lives to deal with as well and will get to it as soon as possible. sometimes we forget but we'll get to it eventually. do not pm an admin to check an application and please do not complain about how long it's taking in the cbox, you really don't want to get on our bad side as soon as you join.
3.) detail is key to being accepted in to lights out. though our name is lights out, please do not leave out anything in your character's life. we want more than just the basics! give us detail; it surely makes an application pop and is more interesting. the more detail you give your application, the better chance you have of being accepted.
4.) all characters must be portrayed by an actual celebrity. no people from facebook, myspace, livejournal anything like that! your application will be denied if your pb isn't suitable. also, please match your character with a pb of the right age. don't get brad pitt to portray a twenty year old, it just doesn't work.
5.) one character per account, it makes things less complicated. you're free to have as many characters you want, but if we see you're making too many and not keeping up with them we're going to ask you to delete some. i don't want to see someone with seven characters but only active with one. it's stupid!
6.) your display name should consist of your character's full name, all letters in lower case. please do not include anything else; a period is fine, but nothing other than that.
[/size][/ul][/blockquote][/blockquote]
[/b] no chatspeak / slang in actual posts. i don't want to see any lol-ing in a post. make sure you're spelling things correctly and check for grammatical mistakes. we all know it won't be perfect, but make sure it's readable.P O S T I N G .
2.) all posts should be at least 600 words. that counts for the role play sample in the application. this shouldn't be hard for anyone that is a member of this site. please try and match the person you're roleplaying with. it's annoying when someone is posting over 1,000 and the other is posting at 600.
3.) do not act as if your character can read minds or has any special powers - this is a normal human role play, so i don't expect anyone to fly or be immortal. also, i do not want everyone to be pregnant or moms. seriously, i know there are a lot of pregnant people out there, but no! not every character on the site can be a single mom. it's just an annoying trend!
4.) there are going to be sex, drugs, and violence talked about in posts. if you can't handle it, don't join. please don't get too graphic with some things, though. it's easy to get your point across without going into too much detail about things. use your sense of discretion, kay? kay.[/ul][/size][/blockquote][/blockquote]
[/b] do not stretch the board with a picture; it's annoying and will be deleted if we see it happen. keep all pictures, whether they be in signatures or not, at a reasonable size.G R A P H I C S .
2.) now that you've read the rules in their entirety, feel free to join lights out. the word you're looking for (for your application) is 'we quiet the war'.[/ul][/size]
